Peace Boat (和平船)
Peace Boat is a Japan-based, international non-governmental and non-profit organization with special consultative status with the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council.
Peace Boat works to promote peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment through the organization of global educational programmes, cooperative projects and advocacy activities.
The first voyages were organized in 1983 by a group of Japanese university students from a desire to build greater bonds of mutual respect and understanding among the people of Asia, focusing on cultural exchange.
Peace Boat has organized more than 95 global and regional voyages, taken over 50,000 participants on board and visited over 200 ports of call.
